SAP S/4HANA
BAM Infra Netherlands standardises operations with SAP S/4HAN
BAM Infra Netherlands standardises and harmonises its financial processes with SAP S/4HANA. SAP's business suite replaces the current ERP systems and forms the basis for the Financial Shared Service Centre of the infrastructure branch of Royal BAM Group, which was established in 2015.
BAM Infra Netherlands is an extensive organisation with four business units: BAM Infra Multidisciplinary Contracts, BAM Infra Regional, BAM Infra Connect, and BAM Infraconsult.
The construction company uses S/4HANA for all finance-related processes, from incoming invoices to project administration. BAM Infra is thus implementing an efficiency improvement, which means, for example, that invoices are processed faster. There is also direct insight into the work carried out within a project that has not yet been invoiced. A customer also gains a better impression of the progress of a project.
Business challenges
To prepare the organisation for the future, the need has arisen for one Financial Shared Service Centre for finance that is supported by one integrated system. BAM Infra Nederland opted for SAP S/4HANA, the in-memory ERP suite that connects processes and data, as the "digital core" of the organisation. This also lays the foundation for the further digitalisation of BAM Infra and the development in the areas of BIM, Analytics, and joint article/standards management.
Keys to success
"With S/4HANA we fully harmonise our processes in the financial field, which immediately delivers efficiency benefits," says the Finance Director of BAM Infra Netherlands. "Information is collected in a clear manner and comes together in a central location. This makes it easier to perform analyses and generate reports. At the touch of a button, we can immediately see how we are doing and make adjustments where necessary. With S/4HANA we have real-time insight and can continuously optimise our services to both internal and external customers."
"BAM Infra Nederland is taking major steps in the field of innovation," says Jan-Theodoor Wiltschek, Innovations Manager at SAP. "They prove this not only with the implementation of SAP S/4HANA but also with recent work in SAP's Run Live Truck. Within a few days, several young professionals from BAM developed an application to use machine learning to match a new tender to tenders from the past. Insight into what was and was not successful in the past increases the chance of winning a new tender."

The choice of state-of-the-art technology from SAP, based on one digital core, allows BAM to harmonise its specific applications in a controlled manner, allowing users to have their own user experience whilst still sharing information unambiguously.
