Financial and regular reporting was mostly done in Excel and a lack of a single source of truth was present in multiple reporting use cases. Besides, the platform did not allow the company to take the next step in their data journey. Data was not yet generally and quickly available in a scalable way.
Along with the new SaaS ERP solution, the desire for (extra) management and operational reports was present across nearly all business domains including finance, projects, purchasing, HR, time registration and services & maintenance.

In particular, Emixa Data & Analytics applied their expertise in the field of data to realize a modern data stack. We implemented a state-of-the-art cloud data warehouse by using the latest Microsoft Azure technology in the market. Besides, having done multiple data platform implementation projects in the construction industry, they applied their project management skills and software specific data modelling knowledge. Hence, we not only focused on the technical/IT side of the project but also focused on data ownership, standardization of business concepts, and application of the functional business requirements.
Results
The new data platforms enable the VolkerWessels companies to consult their desired operational and management insights faster, more accurately and at larger scale. They regain trust in their data and moreover are now able to bring their data solutions live easily. By delivering over 50 dashboards across 10+ business domains, the companies’ data teams have along with Emixa grown in data professionalism, expertise and knowledge related to BI & AI.
